Read for your Future reviews NOPM

The review was done in purple.

A mystery of sorts, aimed mainly at early teens. This was a good book. It had an interesting and suspenseful storyline. A good ʺWhat would you do?ʺ kind of book. The young lady, who is the main character, grows by leaps and bounds through this story. The settings could be any normal city anywhere in the world. How the characters handle the disaster that befalls them is what makes this story stand out. Easy to read and follow along with. A good book for early teens to read when they are ready for a little more complicated chapter book.

‘All We Have Is Stories’… reviews NOPM

The Night of the Purple Moon was full of kindness and bravery, as the children fought to live life the best they could for as long as possible. Watching them relying on each other and finding there places in the new world was heart warming. It was a real eye opener in the things we take for granted in daily life. The characters where very relate-able in their emotions however one of my issues with the book was that all of the children where really intelligent and mature for there age and didn’t talk like any children I have ever met of their respective ages, one precocious child is believable a whole island of them isn’t. I was also a little confused with Abby’s age, at the beginning of the book she was thirteen and at the end of the book, over a year later, she was still thirteen. Despite my issues with the book it was a great read that i found hard to put down and i’m really looking forward to the sequel and seeing where the author takes it. I would recommend this book to YA and science fiction readers.

NOPM helps blogger cope with dentist

Reading Night of the Purple Moon by Scott Cramer – I barely ever accept review copies from self-published authors, but Scott Cramer’s polite e-mail and summary of his debut novel made me interested enough to tell him I’d take an e-book and try to get round to it in the following few months. A couple of days after that, I had a dentist’s appointment and started reading it on the Kindle app for my iPod while waiting. I raced through it so quickly that I lost all track of where I was (impressive, as I hate going to the dentist!)

Bonesnap reviews NOPM

From Leo @ Bonesnap

“Finally, I get to do a book review over something besides cats! I have about 20 books in my queue to read. This was the third one on my list. I hope that over the holidays I can read a few more. The book for today’s review is Night of the Purple Moon.

Currently on Amazon, the book has over 155 positive reviews – so anything I write is pointless – I think reviews on Amazon have more value. Just my opinion.

However, I read it and here are my thoughts.”

Callahan, 13, discusses Night of the Purple Moon

I’ve always believed that Night of the Purple Moon is a story for all ages. At the same time, the protagonists are thirteen and twelve year old—which means that it should be especially appealing to a young adult audience. It’s really great when I hear about readers under the age of twenty!

Sophie delivers her verdict on NOPM

The Verdict – Overall I highly enjoyed the book. The authors pitched the age group just right, mixing in death, Apocalypse, love, loss, responsibility, adolescence and teenage rebellion all into a solid story-line. As such, I think many young teens would identify with the characters and themes discussed in the book, as well as being entertained by an imaginative and gripping plot. 3.5* Stars.

The above is only the last paragraph of the review. Sophie wrote quite an extensive review.

Reading Lark reviews NOPM

One last word on the rating I chose for this book: my choice was based on the description, “quite good,” rather than the numerical score. Of all our ratings, I simply felt this was the best description of how I felt about my reading experience. If you are at all interested in the premise of this book, please don’t let the number attached to this review stop you from giving this book a try. For readers interested in astronomy, island life, and fictional worlds where children have to fend for themselves, this might be just the read you are looking for.

Once Upon a Prologue reviews NOPM

Molli Moran says…
“I have to say, reading Scott Cramer’s novel was sobering and terrifying.  I can’t even fathom knowing that your own body changing could lead to your death!  Even though the premise is a somewhat far-fetched, it is also still believable, because of the genuine fear and mystery Cramer interjects into this story.  This is still realistic science fiction.”
PS. Thank you Molli for reading Night of the Purple Moon
